It is really hard to watch a friend or a member of your family go through a difficult time, particularly if they are very distressed. You may want to help them but do not know how to or you may feel under pressure to look after them. What can I do?
Warning signs to look out for:
Being a carer:If you are caring for a relative who has a mental illness you may feel under a lot of pressure. They probably require a lot of support and you may feel tired and mentally drained. Perhaps you have to stay at home to look after them and this means you miss out on school/work, seeing your friends or having a life of your own. Don't try to cope with this on your own. Tell someone you trust. Asking for help does not mean that you care for them any less and in fact it might make things easier for you all. Contact: CAUSE Carers Advocate Aware Defeat Depression |
